If you want your dog to take a pill, get in the bath, come to you quickly, relax, then peanut butter is the key.
Most dogs love peanut butter. My dogs take their probiotics in the evening with no problem when I put a dab of peanut butter on a spoon and squish the pill into the peanut butter. My new rescue had to take a liquid medicine and he gets scared around his mouth. So I spread peanut butter around the bottom of the plunger and he opened his mouth to lick the peanut butter and I depressed the plunger. I got the medicine in him very easily.
If your dog does not like a bath, just spread peanut butter on the shower wall on the tile and they will stand there and lick it off while you wet and soap them up. The wall is easy to clean after your dog is clean.
Want to teach a bullet proof recall? Use peanut butter. Roll small balls of peanut butter, put them in the refrigerator and then call your dog. When they come to you, reward with a peanut butter ball. Keep doing this in multiple different locations in your home and your dog will learn to come quickly to you for some yummy peanut butter.
To help your dog stay calm and relax when you need some quiet time. Take a Kong and stuff it with peanut butter or a mixture of carrots, yogurt, kibble etc and peanut butter. Freeze your Kong. And when you need a distraction, take out the Kong and let your dog enjoy. It will take them several hours to finish, which allows you to have that free time.
IMPORTANT > Only buy peanut butter that DOES NOT have Xylitol or Birch Sugar as an ingredient. These ingredients are toxic for animals.
And if your dog does not like peanut butter, use Cream Cheese instead.
