Hormone changes in dogs result in behavior changes including being more pushy or bossy, not listening to cues from the other dogs, marking inside and more. This can be disruptive to the entire playgroup’s behavior. When hormones are present, your dog smells differently resulting in the group responding differently to them. By spaying and neutering, the hormones are reduced, the behaviors cease and pregnancy is not possible.

No. Our front desk is closed outside of daycare service hours. Our overnight staff is here to take care of the overnight dogs and cannot leave the overnight dogs to bring your dog out. This ensures all overnight dogs are safe and appropriately cared for and supervised.

The front desk staff is tasked with knowing all the dogs and their parents. If someone comes to pick up a dog that is not known to us, we ask them for the password of the day. This ensures that you as the parent have given them the password and thus authorized them to pick up your dog. If they do not have the password, they don’t get your dog. The password changes daily and you must call to get the correct one for the pickup if an alternate caretaker will be picking up your dog.

If you dog is having discharge from nose, eyes, blood or mucous in urine or feces, coughing or generally does not feel well, they cannot come to daycare. We assess the dog when they arrive and will ask you to take the dog home if there is any sign of sickness.

Never! We are with them on the play floor, outside, at nap time, and overnight. This ensures that our dogs always have support and help if there they have a medical episode, do not feel well, are scared or any other concerns.

Happy Tails has a documented medical protocol for all injuries.

• If there is a minor injury, Happy Tails DDC uses hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment
• If there is a medium, injury, you have choices. Your dog can stay with office staff, you can pick up, we can take your dog to the local vet or you can instruct us to put your dog back on the play floor.
• If the injury is critical, we will not call you, we take your dog to the vet for immediate treatment. Once your dog is released, we will call you and ensure you have all information regarding the incident and care.
• In the event your dog causes injury to another dog, you are responsible for the vet care for the other dog. If this is a continuing issue, your dog will be dismissed from daycare.

Happy Tails makes every effort to ensure your dog will have and contribute to a positive daycare experience. If your dog is not playing appropriately, not listening to corrections from dogs or handlers, biting/nipping dogs or handlers, not able to be managed in the group - then they will be dismissed from daycare. Should these issues arise, we will talk with you about the situation and encourage working with a trainer to see if they can resolve. We recommend Training Tails, which is based onsite and is a member of the Destination Dog Business Alliance.

The most common dog illnesses are Bordatella (Cold), Conjunctivitis, Worms, Giarida/Coccida and Puppy Warts (Papiloma). Your dog can return a week after the last cough from Bordatella. 24 hours after getting the meds for Conjunctivitis. And after having a negative fecal test (from the vet) for Giardia/Coccida and Worms. Puppy Warts is not harmful to your dog and is a one-time occurrence. They can come into daycare with Puppy Warts.

Happy Tails does not provide grooming. The Pawsh Pooch is onsite and is a member of the Destination Dog Business Alliance. You can schedule services during your dog’s stay at Happy Tails and they will come get and return your dog from daycare. The Pawsh Pooch can be reached at 508-553-7297

We also work on recall with your dog’s name, sit, off, barrier frustrations, and impulse control. Following our conversation, you and your dog come out onto the play floor so they can meet dogs behind the chain link and visit the outside yard. Next, you will be seated out on the play floor and single dogs are introduced to your dog. Finally, we will return to the evaluation room to discuss the assessment and Happy Tails’ policies and procedures.

This gives them a chance to be settled into the play floor and have additional dogs arriving gradually instead of your dog coming in when all the dogs are already present. After your first day, you may drop off whenever you would like, up until noon.

Yes! During the day, each play group rotates through our facility, which takes approximately 1.5 hours with the outside yard at the end of the rotations. In inclement weather, the dogs may bathroom and then come right back inside. The groups are outside every 1.5 hrs and we use air conversion to ensure fresh air inside the building. Air conversion is completed by running all the exterior fans to bring fresh air in and exhausted out the back of the building

Happy Tails believes that matching dogs with similar personalities and play styles allows them to have the most fun and be able to communicate well with their friends. Why put a very active dog in with calm small dogs just because they are small?

Nap time takes place from noon to 2:30pm. Drop off and pick up is NOT allowed during this time. There is a lot of activity at Happy Tails and nap time gives the dogs time to relax, take a break from stimulation, rest and, if provided, eat lunch.

Daycare and Overnights are two separate services with different fee structures. When your dog stays overnight, the total cost of their visit will include the daycare fee (or deduction from a pre-paid package) and a fee for each night of the visit. You can find more information on pricing here.

Yes! At Happy Tails, we care about your dog’s safety and wellbeing and that includes when they sleep over! The overnight staff is the same staff that works during the day. This ensures that we know your dog and your dog knows us, which helps them feel safe and secure while away from home.

We request that your dog arrive no later than 4:00pm to ensure they have time to play and get settled before the overnight process begins.

Please bring enough of your dog’s food to last the duration of their stay and anything else that would make your dog feel comfortable including their bed, a blanket or a special cuddle toy. A t-shirt or article of clothing that you have worn and not washed is very comforting. If you forget anything, Happy Tails has bowls, blankets, beds, crates to help your dog to sleep nightly.

Absolutely! Just give us a call. We answer the telephone 24 hrs a day.

The overnight room has no windows and we create a white noise ring around the dogs, so they can’t hear anything happening outside such as thunder, fireworks or vehicle noises. During the day, there are enough dogs on the play floor to create a distraction and our 50 foot high roof line helps to mask outside noise.

The number of overnight dogs fluctuates depending on the season, but is generally between ten and twenty dogs.

No, we provide many different ways your dog can sleep. Happy Tails likes to duplicate how your dog sleeps at home to provide a sense of security and comfort for them. We have every way your dog could possibly sleep. Please indicate how they sleep at home when you are completing the Overnight Data Sheet.

Daycare and Overnights are two separate services with different fee structures. When your dog stays overnight, the total cost of their visit will include the daycare fee (or deduction from a pre-paid package) and a fee for each night of the visit. You can find more information on pricing here.

Yes! At Happy Tails, we care about your dog’s safety and wellbeing and that includes when they sleep over! The overnight staff is the same staff that works during the day. This ensures that we know your dog and your dog knows us, which helps them feel safe and secure while away from home.

We request that your dog arrive no later than 4:00pm to ensure they have time to play and get settled before the overnight process begins.

Please bring enough of your dog’s food to last the duration of their stay and anything else that would make your dog feel comfortable including their bed, a blanket or a special cuddle toy. A t-shirt or article of clothing that you have worn and not washed is very comforting. If you forget anything, Happy Tails has bowls, blankets, beds, crates to help your dog to sleep nightly.

Absolutely! Just give us a call. We answer the telephone 24 hrs a day.

The overnight room has no windows and we create a white noise ring around the dogs, so they can’t hear anything happening outside such as thunder, fireworks or vehicle noises. During the day, there are enough dogs on the play floor to create a distraction and our 50 foot high roof line helps to mask outside noise.

The number of overnight dogs fluctuates depending on the season, but is generally between ten and twenty dogs.

No, we provide many different ways your dog can sleep. Happy Tails likes to duplicate how your dog sleeps at home to provide a sense of security and comfort for them. We have every way your dog could possibly sleep. Please indicate how they sleep at home when you are completing the Overnight Data Sheet.

At Happy Tails, we have an extensive staff training program and dedicated training staff to ensure your dog receives attentive and qualified care. Upon hiring, our staff members complete the Dog Handlers Academy online training course. They are also provided a collection of dog behavior articles, access to a large reference library onsite and over ninety (90) films by dog behaviorists. In addition to the above requirements, our training staff work on the play floor to support all staff, with focused attention on newer members of our team.

• Air conversion is completed by running all the exterior fans to bring fresh air in and exhausted out the back of the building.

Hormone changes in dogs result in behavior changes including being more pushy or bossy, not listening to cues from the other dogs, marking inside and more. This can be disruptive to the entire playgroup’s behavior. When hormones are present, your dog smells differently resulting in the group responding differently to them. By spaying and neutering, the hormones are reduced, the behaviors cease and pregnancy is not possible.

No. Our front desk is closed outside of daycare service hours. Our overnight staff is here to take care of the overnight dogs and cannot leave the overnight dogs to bring your dog out. This ensures all overnight dogs are safe and appropriately cared for and supervised.

The front desk staff is tasked with knowing all the dogs and their parents. If someone comes to pick up a dog that is not known to us, we ask them for the password of the day. This ensures that you as the parent have given them the password and thus authorized them to pick up your dog. If they do not have the password, they don’t get your dog. The password changes daily and you must call to get the correct one for the pickup if an alternate caretaker will be picking up your dog.

If you dog is having discharge from nose, eyes, blood or mucous in urine or feces, coughing or generally does not feel well, they cannot come to daycare. We assess the dog when they arrive and will ask you to take the dog home if there is any sign of sickness.

Never! We are with them on the play floor, outside, at nap time, and overnight. This ensures that our dogs always have support and help if there they have a medical episode, do not feel well, are scared or any other concerns.

Happy Tails has a documented medical protocol for all injuries.

• If there is a minor injury, Happy Tails DDC uses hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment
• If there is a medium, injury, you have choices. Your dog can stay with office staff, you can pick up, we can take your dog to the local vet or you can instruct us to put your dog back on the play floor.
• If the injury is critical, we will not call you, we take your dog to the vet for immediate treatment. Once your dog is released, we will call you and ensure you have all information regarding the incident and care.
• In the event your dog causes injury to another dog, you are responsible for the vet care for the other dog. If this is a continuing issue, your dog will be dismissed from daycare.

Happy Tails makes every effort to ensure your dog will have and contribute to a positive daycare experience. If your dog is not playing appropriately, not listening to corrections from dogs or handlers, biting/nipping dogs or handlers, not able to be managed in the group - then they will be dismissed from daycare. Should these issues arise, we will talk with you about the situation and encourage working with a trainer to see if they can resolve. We recommend Training Tails, which is based onsite and is a member of the Destination Dog Business Alliance.

The most common dog illnesses are Bordatella (Cold), Conjunctivitis, Worms, Giarida/Coccida and Puppy Warts (Papiloma). Your dog can return a week after the last cough from Bordatella. 24 hours after getting the meds for Conjunctivitis. And after having a negative fecal test (from the vet) for Giardia/Coccida and Worms. Puppy Warts is not harmful to your dog and is a one-time occurrence. They can come into daycare with Puppy Warts.

Following our conversation, you and your dog come out onto the play floor so they can meet dogs behind the chain link and visit the outside yard. Next, you will be seated out on the play floor and single dogs are introduced to your dog. Finally, we will return to the evaluation room to discuss the assessment and Happy Tails’ policies and procedures.

Each day at Happy Tails follows a specific routine. This provides predictability and structure for the dogs so they can focus on having fun!

Dog arrives, goes outside to potty if needed, comes in and goes into their compatible group, plays & works on good manners until nap time, goes down for a nap, after nap goes outside, comes back in to the morning compatible group, plays & works on good manners & may participate in a new dog interview, gets pick up, goes home, passes out.

It is best to drop off by 8am for your dog’s first day. This gives them a chance to be settled into the play floor and have additional dogs arriving gradually instead of your dog coming in when all the dogs are already present. After your first day, you may drop off whenever you would like, up until noon.

Yes! During the day, each play group rotates through our facility, which takes approximately 1.5 hours with the outside yard at the end of the rotations. In inclement weather, the dogs may bathroom and then come right back inside. The groups are outside every 1.5 hrs and we use air conversion to ensure fresh air inside the building. Air conversion is completed by running all the exterior fans to bring fresh air in and exhausted out the back of the building

Happy Tails believes that matching dogs with similar personalities and play styles allows them to have the most fun and be able to communicate well with their friends. Why put a very active dog in with calm small dogs just because they are small?

Nap time takes place from noon to 2:30pm. Drop off and pick up is NOT allowed during this time. There is a lot of activity at Happy Tails and nap time gives the dogs time to relax, take a break from stimulation, rest and, if provided, eat lunch.

Just let us know! Please provide enough food for your dog and label it with their name and time you want them fed. We do not provide any food as each dog has a specific diet and giving them food they are not used to could make them sick.

Happy Tails compatible play groups have no more than 20 dogs in each group. We have over 100 dogs per day with 8 to 10 groups at play. Overnight dogs fluctuate based on holidays, weekends etc. Most nights are 10 to 20 dogs.

Daycare is a very stimulating environment that requires a lot of physical activity, intellectual stimulation as they make decisions all day long and emotional stimulation as they navigate interacting with their peers. This is a lot of activity, especially if it is different than your dog’s typical day and they will be tired after daycare.

Each day at Happy Tails follows a specific routine. This provides predictability and structure for the dogs so they can focus on having fun!

Dog arrives, goes outside to potty if needed, comes in and goes into their compatible group, plays & works on good manners until nap time, goes down for a nap, after nap goes outside, comes back in to the morning compatible group, plays & works on good manners & may participate in a new dog interview, gets pick up, goes home, passes out.

It is best to drop off by 8am for your dog’s first day. This gives them a chance to be settled into the play floor and have additional dogs arriving gradually instead of your dog coming in when all the dogs are already present. After your first day, you may drop off whenever you would like, up until noon.

Yes! During the day, each play group rotates through our facility, which takes approximately 1.5 hours with the outside yard at the end of the rotations. In inclement weather, the dogs may bathroom and then come right back inside. The groups are outside every 1.5 hrs and we use air conversion to ensure fresh air inside the building. Air conversion is completed by running all the exterior fans to bring fresh air in and exhausted out the back of the building

Happy Tails believes that matching dogs with similar personalities and play styles allows them to have the most fun and be able to communicate well with their friends. Why put a very active dog in with calm small dogs just because they are small?

Nap time takes place from noon to 2:30pm. Drop off and pick up is NOT allowed during this time. There is a lot of activity at Happy Tails and nap time gives the dogs time to relax, take a break from stimulation, rest and, if provided, eat lunch.

Just let us know! Please provide enough food for your dog and label it with their name and time you want them fed. We do not provide any food as each dog has a specific diet and giving them food they are not used to could make them sick.

Happy Tails compatible play groups have no more than 20 dogs in each group. We have over 100 dogs per day with 8 to 10 groups at play. Overnight dogs fluctuate based on holidays, weekends etc. Most nights are 10 to 20 dogs.

Between 6:30pm and 7:00pm they are taken into the overnight room where their meals are prepared and they are fed and are given water.

Then they go outside to bathroom and then back in to relax. Another bathroom break happens between 10:30 to 11pm before settling in for the rest of the night.

If they are not comfortable, the overnight staff is there to ensure they have what they need for a good night’s sleep. In the morning, 5:30 to 6am, everything is done in reverse. Go outside, eat breakfast, back outside, go into your compatible daycare play group by 6:30am.

If your dog will not be attending daycare the next day, you must pick them up by 7:30am to avoid being charged for the day.

Daycare and Overnights are two separate services with different fee structures. When your dog stays overnight, the total cost of their visit will include the daycare fee (or deduction from a pre-paid package) and a fee for each night of the visit. You can find more information on pricing here.

The overnight room has no windows and we create a white noise ring around the dogs, so they can’t hear anything happening outside such as thunder, fireworks or vehicle noises. During the day, there are enough dogs on the play floor to create a distraction and our 50 foot high roof line helps to mask outside noise.

The number of overnight dogs fluctuates depending on the season, but is generally between ten and twenty dogs.

No, we provide many different ways your dog can sleep. Happy Tails likes to duplicate how your dog sleeps at home to provide a sense of security and comfort for them. We have every way your dog could possibly sleep. Please indicate how they sleep at home when you are completing the Overnight Data Sheet.

Upon hiring, our staff members complete the Dog Handlers Academy online training course. They are also provided a collection of dog behavior articles, access to a large reference library onsite and over ninety (90) films by dog behaviorists. In addition to the above requirements, our training staff work on the play floor to support all staff, with focused attention on newer members of our team.

For safety, we average 10 to 15 dogs per handler with about 12 to 15 people on staff for each shift.

This is a big safety concern in the daycare world for both the dogs and the staff. Happy Tails has decided it is more important to protect all of us. We do have cameras on all play areas and you are welcome to come into the reception area and watch the live camera broadcasts on the reception television.

Happy Tails has custom rubber flooring to provide traction and to cushion your dog’s feet and support their joints (and for our staff too!!) It’s also easy to clean, ensuring a clean and disinfected play surface.

Happy Tails takes health, wellness and cleanliness seriously to ensure a healthy environment for our dogs.

• Water bowls are filled in the morning, washed with bleach and rinsed with water at nap time, refilled and then washed again after daycare.
• Floors are mopped and swept in the morning and washed with anti-microbial cleaners after daycare. If there is an accident on the play floor, the same cleaner is used from a spray bottle and cleaned immediately.
• The outside yard is sanitized twice per week with a bleach solution. All solid waste is promptly topped with baking soda to reduce odors, double-bagged, and disposed of in our dumpster. Liquids are drained into a holding tank under the play yard and are pumped out periodically.
• Air conversion is completed by running all the exterior fans to bring fresh air in and exhausted out the back of the building.
• Nap time Kongs, food bowls, and blankets are all washed and thoroughly sanitized after use.
• All waste and paper products are doubled bagged and removed once per week by the trash company.
